WE ARE YOUR LOCAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Our Mission
The Ulster County Democratic Committee (UCDC) works to achieve positive change in our communities by helping to elect people of integrity who share our values.
We believe:
—that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and have equitable access to education and opportunity
—that working together, we can create a more perfect union where our people, our environment, and our economy all thrive
—that fairness, transparency, and inclusivity are the bedrock of our democracy
A Record of Success
In 2020, the UCDC adopted a new set of rules and elected an expanded leadership team, all with the goal of being more inclusive, transparent, diverse, and "small d" democratic as an organization. We are bringing more voices to the table, using a collaborative approach, and organizing new initiatives.
In the years since, this new direction has proven to be very effective:
2021: Ulster County Democrats win a historic supermajority in the county legislature, sweep the countywide races, and pass all five democracy reform ballot proposals—one of only three counties north of NYC to do so.
2022: The high Democratic turnout rate in Ulster County helps power Pat Ryan’s Special Election victory in Congressional District 19 and General Election win in District 18. Ulster also delivers one of the highest margins of victory for Governor Kathy Hochul north of NYC.
2023: Ulster County Democrats keep a strong majority in the county legislature and win a historic victory in the District Attorney race, electing Ulster’s first Black DA and countywide elected official and keeping the office blue.
2024: The high Democratic turnout rate in Ulster County helps flip Congressional District 19 blue and re-elect Rep. Pat Ryan, Senator Michelle Hinchey, and Assemblymembers Sarahana Shrestha and Jonathan Jacobson.
Democratic Party Structure
The UCDC is the grassroots, ground-floor organizing body of the Democratic Party in our area. With 300+ members elected to represent registered Democrats throughout Ulster County, we are your voice in party governance and operations.
UCDC members in each municipality are the Town and City Committee members, and we all work together to empower voters to confidently participate in our democracy, and help get our candidates elected.
